The use of anglicisms in colloquial and Quebec French slang is commonplace, but varies from a place to another, depending on the English presence in the area. These words cannot be used in official documents or in academic writing, etc. Some examples of long-standing anglicisms include:
Amir Khadir (leader and MNA of Québec solidaire): "Godasse Khadir" (in French slang, godasse means old shoe). Khadir was nicknamed Godasse after throwing a shoe on an effigy of George W. Bush in 2008, during a protest held in Montreal for journalist Muntadhar al-Zaidi, famous for throwing a pair of shoes at the U.S. president in Iraq.

Up until recently, many critics have dismissed all of Quebec French as a slang "full of Anglicisms," when bemoaning the decline of "proper" French. The reality is that many English words have been slipping into the vocabulary of France and the spoken language of Quebec has many unique words and phrases not derived from English at all.
