The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (officially, Chhatrapati Sambhajingar Municipal Corporation [2]) is the governing body of the city of Aurangabad in the Indian state of Maharashtra. The municipal corporation consists of democratically elected members, is headed by a mayor and administers the city's infrastructure, public services and police.
It features a bird sanctuary and a garden maintained by the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation. Siddharth Garden and Zoo is situated near the central bus station in Aurangabad city. It is the only zoo in the Marathwada region. It is home to several species of animals, birds, flowers, and trees. The name "Siddhartha" is a reference to Gautama Buddha.

The responsibility for the new city was given to City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) which started development in the 1970s. Thus Aurangabad CIDCO was conceived and developed into a modern city. New Aurangabad (as the project was known) is the second most successful project to be undertaken by CIDCO after Navi Mumbai.
