In 2014 a design by Clark was featured on the Britannia coin. [3] Prior to joining the Mint, Clark worked in commercial packaging design. The British decimal two pence coin (often shortened to 2p in writing and speech) is a denomination of sterling coinage equalling 2 ⁄ 100 of a pound.Since the coin's introduction on 15 February 1971, the year British currency was decimalised, its obverse has featured four profiles of Queen Elizabeth II. [1]
The design features a portrait of Elizabeth riding a hors Queen Elizabeth II is celebrating a milestone 70 years as head of the British monarchy — and a one-of-a-kind coin was made in her honor.
The major design feature was the introduction of a reverse design shared across six coins (1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p), that can be pieced together to form an image of the Royal Shield. This was the first time a coin design had been featured across multiple coins in this way. [20] To summarize the reverse design changes made in 2008 and afterwards:
To date, four different portraits of Elizabeth II have appeared on the obverse. For the first three of these, the inscription was ELIZABETH II D.G.REG.F.D. 2013, [14] where 2013 is replaced by the year of minting. The fourth design, unveiled in March 2015, [15] expanded the inscription slightly to ELIZABETH II DEI.GRA.REG.FID.DEF. 2015.
