Visalaandhra is an Indian Telugu-language daily newspaper established on 22 June 1952 in Vijayawada. [2] [3] The state Communist party of India decided to rename then daily Prajasakti to Visalaandhra (A combination of two words Visala meaning large or vast and Andhra meaning the region of Andhra Pradesh) with the slogan of having a single state for the Telugu speaking people.
The movement succeeded and a separate state of Andhra Pradesh was formed by merging Telugu-speaking areas of Hyderabad State (now known as Telangana) with Andhra State on 1 November 1956 as part of the States Reorganisation Act. (Andhra State had been previously carved out of Madras State on 1 October 1953).

The Gentlemen's agreement of Andhra Pradesh was signed between Telangana and Andhra leaders before the formation of the state of Andhra Pradesh of India on 20 February 1956. The agreement provided safeguards with the purpose of preventing discrimination against Telangana by the government of Andhra Pradesh.
Pitcheswara Rao was born in the small village of Choutapalli in Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh on 12 April 1925. Later, his family migrated to the nearby village, Pulaparru. He did his schooling in Choutapalli and Kaikaluru. As a student, he stood first in the Hindi 'Visharada' exams.
