In 2005, the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) merged with the Sonoma County Museum, when that organization scrapped plans for a $5.5 million facility at the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts. In 2015, the Museum expanded east into the remodeled back half of former Conklin Brothers flooring company warehouse at Seventh and B streets.
The Museum was located at 557 Summerfield Road in Santa Rosa. [6] The Museum closed in 1989 and the SCHS turned its collections over to the Museum of Sonoma County in 1989 [ 7 ] For more than 10 years, the SCHS held its 25-mile hike, first led by Jeff Tobes, then conducted in honor of the late Mr. Tobes.

Fort Ross was founded by the Russian-American Company in 1812. Most of the Fort's buildings are reproductions. The one original structure remaining from the Russian settlement, the commander's house, is a National Historic Landmark and on the National Register of Historic Places.
