Hammocks Beach State Park is a North Carolina state park in Onslow County, North Carolina in the United States. Located near Swansboro , along the Southern Outer Banks , or Crystal Coast , the state park covers 1,611 acres (6.52 km 2 ) [ 1 ] and consists mainly of Bear Island.
Onslow Beach is a 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) stretch of undeveloped beach at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune in Onslow County, North Carolina, US. It has been used at various times for practice amphibious landings by the U.S. Navy. Presently, it is used as a recreational area by the Camp Lejeune community.
Onslow Bay is an indentation of the North Carolina coast, between Cape Fear in the south and Cape Lookout in the north. Thirteen barrier islands form the shore of the bay. It is part of the open Atlantic Ocean and affords no protection from oceanic swells.
It rises in northwestern Onslow County and flows east-southeast past Jacksonville, where it widens into a tidal estuary approximately two miles (3.2 km) wide. As an estuary it meanders through Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune and enters the Atlantic in Onslow Bay, via the New River Inlet between two barrier islands.
