Mantle cell lymphoma: The monoclonal B-cells in this aggressive lymphoma are CD5+ in most cases, CD10−, CD23−, CD43+, CD103−, complete Ig+, and express cyclin D1; these cells have translocations between chromosomes 11 and 14 in >95% of cases and in many cases overexpress the SOX11 transcription factor gene. [2]
The B-cell lymphomas are types of lymphoma affecting B cells. Lymphomas are "blood cancers" in the lymph nodes . They develop more frequently in older adults and in immunocompromised individuals.
Hematologic diseases in which it is positive include ALL, angioimmunoblastic T cell lymphoma, Burkitt lymphoma, chronic myelogenous leukemia in blast crisis (90%), diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (variable), follicular center cells (70%), hairy cell leukemia (10%), and myeloma (some).
B-cell lymphoma/leukemia 10 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the BCL10 gene. [ 5 ] [ 6 ] Like BCL2 , BCL3 , BCL5, BCL6 , BCL7A, and BCL9 , it has clinical significance in lymphoma . Function
The tumor cells in Burkitt lymphoma generally strongly express markers of B cell differentiation (CD20, CD22, CD19), as well as CD10 and BCL6. The tumor cells are generally negative for BCL2 and TdT. The high mitotic activity of Burkitt lymphoma is confirmed by nearly 100% of the cells staining positive for Ki67. [23]
B-cells form in the bone marrow and undergo gene rearrangement in order to develop B-cell receptors (BCRs) that bind to a specific antigen. Once activated by an antigen, B-cells proliferate and further differentiate into plasma cells and memory B-cells. [4] B-cells that have not encountered an antigen are called naive B cells.
