David Walter Foster OC OBC (born November 1, 1949) is a Canadian record producer, film composer, and music executive.He has won 16 Grammy Awards from 47 nominations. [1] [2] Foster's career began as a keyboardist for the pop group Skylark in the early 1970s [3] before focusing largely on composing and production.
Skylark formed in 1971 from one of Ronnie Hawkins's backup groups and signed with Capitol Records, releasing a self-titled album in 1972 which spawned three singles. [3] [4] The group, whose alumni include composer/arranger David Foster, disbanded after the lukewarm reception of their second album.
Doug Edwards was a member of Skylark, and Dave Richardson was a friend of band member and organizer David Foster.Edwards composed "Wildflower" after reading a poem by Richardson; the song was included on the band's demo tape.
