Aki Maeda (前田 亜季, Maeda Aki, born 11 July 1985) is a Japanese actress and singer. She has an older sister named Ai Maeda . She is perhaps best known in the west for her role as Noriko Nakagawa in the controversial 2000 film Battle Royale , which she reprised for its sequel Battle Royale II: Requiem .
Their lead singer, Mina, left the group in 2002 due to pregnancy and was replaced by Aki Maeda who assumed the stage name Aki. Aki left the group in August 2008 to pursue a solo career. Original member Mina returned to the group on October 28, 2008 ushering in the group's comeback after a two-year hiatus.
