Chic (stylized CHIC; / ʃ iː k / SHEEK), currently called Nile Rodgers & Chic, is an American disco band founded in 1972 mainly by guitarist Nile Rodgers and bassist Bernard Edwards. [1]

In 1977, Vandross encouraged Anderson to audition as a background vocalist for Chic, a new band created by Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards. [2] Anderson's and Vandross's background vocals appear on the eponymous debut album Chic, which contained the number one hit "Dance, Dance, Dance" and the Billboard charted "Everybody Dance".
The band's first album was produced by Edwards and featured Chic drummer Tony Thompson, and Duran Duran members John and Andy Taylor as well as singer Robert Palmer. Edwards followed this by producing Robert Palmer's hit album Riptide.
Thompson was a member of the band Non-Toxic at the time of his death. He was survived by his wife, two children, and his sister, Cookie. On September 19, 2005, like his former band member Bernard Edwards, Thompson was honoured posthumously along with the rest of the Chic band members by being inducted into the Dance Music Hall of Fame.

Live at the Budokan is a live album by American band Chic, released on Nile Rodgers' label Sumthing Else in 1999.. The album contains the concert at Tokyo's Budokan on April 17, 1996, that was to be the last performance by fellow Chic member Bernard Edwards who died the following day.
American disco group Chic released a number of albums in the period 1977 to 1983. After 1983's Believer the group did not record a studio album until 1992's Chic-Ism.The band has since continued to tour and release live and compilation albums.
