Established as ‘Aizawl College’ in 1975 by a team of philanthropic citizens meeting at the Office chamber of the then Legislative Assembly Speaker, Dr. H.Thansanga, on the 13 January 1975, Aizawl College (later renamed Government Aizawl College following its take-over by the State Government) was formally inaugurated by Pu Ch. Chhunga, the first Chief Minister of Mizoram.
The college is named after Hrangbana, a late philanthropist and prominent businessman who generously donated a sum of Rs. one lakh to start the college. [2] It was given government recognition as a private college on 6 November 1980 and was upgraded to Deficit Grant-in-aid Status with effect from 1 September 1985.
"The Mizoram Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Raja Mission Rules 2001" was passed by the Mizoram Legislative Assembly and the same was published in the Mizoram Gazette on 1 August 2001. In the same year the Mizoram Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan mission was registered under the societies registration (extension to Mizoram) Act 1976 (Mizoram Act No. 3 of 1977).
The Mizoram Board of School Education (MBSE) is an autonomous governmental body for academic administration in Mizoram, India, having its jurisdiction from elementary to higher secondary education. It was established by the Government of Mizoram (then the Union Territory of India ) in 1975 by the Mizoram Board of School Education Act.
