Dwight David Howard II (born December 8, 1985) is an American professional basketball player. Nicknamed "Superman" for his athletic prowess, he was an NBA champion, eight-time All-Star, eight-time All-NBA Team honoree, five-time All-Defensive Team member, and three-time Defensive Player of the Year.
Dwight was born on September 9, 1933, in the racially segregated [1] Kansas City, Kansas area, to Georgia Baker Dwight (1909–2006) and Edward Joseph Dwight Sr. (1905–1975), who played second base and centerfield for the Kansas City Monarchs and other Negro league teams from 1924 to 1937.
