Wonder Pets! is an American animated musical children's television series produced by Little Airplane Productions. The series follows a trio of classroom pets—Linny the Guinea Pig, Turtle Tuck, and Ming-Ming Duckling—who use teamwork to help animals in need.
The New York Times reviewer wrote, "The 10 musical numbers, written by Marc Elliot and Larry Hochman, and Mr. Elliot's lyrics for the songs, move the story along and provide some good comic effects...[there are] some old-fashioned songs in the show that you find yourself humming afterward, and a few stay with you a long time."
Wonder Pets — In the episode "Save the Puppy", the Wonder Pets sing a parody of the song about how everyone needs to urinate, using the lyrics "Dogs do it, frogs do it, even funny winking hogs do it...". The Sesame Street song "Let's Lay an Egg" is a parody of the song, using the lyrics "Snails do it, slugs do it. Even tiny Twiddlebugs do it!"
The blowfish must come to the rescue, so he, a seahorse, and a squid work together to help the Wonder Pets escape from the whale by tickling the whale to get him to open his mouth. Once freed, the Wonder Pets are greeted by a chorus of concerned creatures from across the sea, who tell the Wonder Pets that their good deeds are appreciated.
Stevie Wonder recorded this song in 1967, but it remained unreleased for a decade, so no less a performer than the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, was the first to release it, doing so in 1973.
