The Ministry of Tribal Affairs (MOTA) is an Indian Government ministry charged with overall development of Scheduled Tribe communities of India by providing them education, scholarships, grants to create more health infrastructure in tribal communities, preservation of Tribal Culture & languages and direct cash transfer schemes to economically backward tribal families.
In 2016 [4] Government of India launched National Scholarship portal. and in 2018, the Indian government launched the National Scholarship Portal mobile app to allow poor and rural students to access the portal. [5] [6] It was developed by the Ministry of Minority Affairs. [7] The full web-based portal launched in 2020. [1]
The Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta took cognizance of the matter [1] of a complaint filed in Jabalpur and initiated the investigations. The inquiry revealed that an institute pocketed Rs. 1.5 crore by claiming to admit around 180 students. The institute forged the documents to claim the scholarship meant for the students.

Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) is a Government of India scheme for model residential school, specifically for Scheduled Tribes across India. It is one of the flagship interventions of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India and was introduced in the year 1997-98 [1] to ensure tribal students get access to quality education in the remote tribal areas.
The organization offers technical assistance to its member colleges and develops institutions, and leads efforts to promote the Tribal College Movement. In 1989, AIHEC established the American Indian College Fund (AICF) to raise scholarship funds for American Indian students at qualified tribal colleges and universities.
