The Wild Ones were an American rock band from New York City, initially led by singer Jordan Christopher. They are perhaps best known for recording the first version of Chip Taylor 's song " Wild Thing ", which later was a smash hit for The Troggs .
The song became a signature song for The Runaways drummer, Sandy West, for her singing and showmanship. [40] In 1981, Siouxsie Sioux recorded the song with her second band the Creatures, adding new lyrics: "Wild thing, I think I hate you/but I wanna know for sure/so come on, hit me hard/I hate you": it was included on the EP Wild Things. William "Bill" Minkin (born October 17, 1941) is an American comedian, singer, and recording artist who performed political satire, under the names Senator Bobby and Senator Everett McKinley. In 1967, Parkway Records released a 45 rpm single of Minkin singing two versions of The Troggs ' 1966 hit song, " Wild Thing ".
However, Christopher left the band shortly after its release to develop an acting career. Producer Gerry Granahan later commissioned Brill Building songwriter Chip Taylor to write a song specifically for the band. "Wild Thing" – sung by the band's new lead vocalist, Chuck Alden, not Christopher – was the result. [1]
"The Wild Ones" music video was filmed in Dartmoor and was directed by Howard Greenhalgh. The band met Greenhalgh at the MTV Video Music Awards in New York on a promo trip, where he won best video for Soundgarden's "Black Hole Sun". Rick Lindy and The Wild Ones were formed in 2000 and were once described as "Dave Edmunds goes country". [5] The band has played shows in Norway, Denmark, Germany, Sweden and the Faeroe Islands. [6] The Wild Ones have released two CDs, "Wild Side of Town" and "American Dream." both on the Norwegian label Flipside Records.
In 2015, Wild Ones released an EP titled Heatwave on Topshelf Records. [7] [8] On December 2, 2022, Sulivan made a post that advertised a release of previously unreleased music which include live session and demo songs on bandcamp. [9] [10]
He was initially backed by the Saints, a band that included Roy Phillips, guitar, and Tab Martin, bass. His later backing groups (the Wild Ones or the Wild Boys) featured Ritchie Blackmore and others. Mick Underwood, Chas Hodges, Blackmore, and others performed on "Just Like Eddie" as members of the Outlaws.
