The Ruoff Music Center is an open-air concert venue capable of hosting live, high-profile concerts and outdoor music festivals. It opened in 1989, at a site along Sand Creek, just north of exit 210 on Interstate 69, near the junction of former State Road 238 (at the time also known as Greenfield Avenue; now rebuilt and renamed as Southeastern Parkway), 146th Street and Boden Road.
It has a capacity of 19,500 (7,232 seats under pavilion, 2,221 reserved seats on lawn and 10,000 general admission seats [2]). The amphitheater is located on Pavilion Boulevard in the University City neighborhood near the US 29/I-485 (Outerbelt) interchange. The venue is operated by Live Nation, a concert company.
In March 2010, the venue removed its corporate prefix ("Verizon Wireless") for the first time in its 14-year history, to be known simply as "Virginia Beach Amphitheater". [3] In February 2011, the amphitheater was renamed "Farm Bureau Live at Virginia Beach", with naming rights coming from Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance. [ 4 ]

Verizon renewed this contract for another 7 years, extending it to 2014, but did not opt to renew a second time, and the name reverted to the original Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre moniker in 2015.
