Sir James Scrymgeour (d.1612) was one of the commissioners sent to Denmark to negotiate the marriage of James VI of Scotland to Princess Anne of Denmark. [2] He was also appointed as a commissioner to negotiate a political union with England in 1604. [2] In 1617 Sir James's successor, John Scrymgeour entertained James VI at Dudhope Castle. [2]

John Scrymgeour or Scrimgeour, 1st Viscount of Dudhope (died 7 March 1642 or 1643) was a Scottish politician. He succeeded his father James Scrimgeour as hereditary Constable of Dundee and Standard Bearer of Scotland in 1612. He represented Forfarshire in Parliament in 1612, 1617 and 1621, and Argyllshire from 1628 to 1633.
He was married to Margaret, daughter of Sir James Scrymgeour Viscount Dudhope and Scottish Royalist and the family spent a large part of their wealth in support of the Stewarts.
