Opened in August 2002 and constructed southwest of Salem High School, the new Plymouth High School was designed by the architecture firm French Associates. [4] The students selected to be Plymouth High's first senior class, the Class of 2006, were polled during their 6th grade year to come up with the school's colors and mascot.
The school has recently suffered from overcrowding, leading administrators to place portable classrooms on the campus. This also led the neighboring town of Windham, whose students were sent to Salem, to construct its own high school in 2009. [4] The class of 2011 was the last graduating class from Salem High to include students from Windham.
Salem beat Clearview Regional High School and Merchantville High School in the first two rounds of the tournament before defeating Cinnaminson High School in the final game to win the title. [26] The 1973 football team was awarded the South Jersey Group II state sectional title by the NJSIAA as co-champion with Pleasantville High School. [27]
The school's name was changed in 1954 to North Salem High School when South Salem High School opened that year. [7] Over the years, many additions have been made to the building, with the latest addition, the West Wing, being completed in 2001. [ 5 ]
