Ankoko Island (Spanish: Isla de Anacoco) is an island located at the confluence of the Cuyuni River and Wenamu River, at , on the border between Venezuela and Guyana The Ankoko Island border was finalized in 1905 by the British-Venezuelan Mixed Boundary Commission, in accordance with the Arbitral Award of 3 October 1899 .
It is part of the Essequibo River basin. Mango Landing is a small settlement on the Guyana side of the Wanamu River. Other settlements include Arau [2] and Kaikan village. [3] [4] There is an airstrip that mostly serves miners working in the area. [5] The Wenamu has been a part of the long territorial dispute between Guyana and Venezuela.
The Ekareku River is a river of Guyana, a tributary of the Wenamu River. [2] The Ekereku is one of the major tributaries of the Cuyuni River.
