Tishreen Sports Club (Arabic: نادي تشرين الرياضي) is a Syrian professional football club based in Latakia. The club was founded in 1947 and currently competes in the Syrian Premier League. The university was founded under the name of the University of Latakia on 20 May 1971. The name was changed in 1975 to Tishreen University (Arabic: جامعة تشرين, lit. 'October University') to honor the memory of the October War (Tishreen War in Arabic). [1]
