Hey dudes just made a quick setup guide to get gt4 running with a fanatec wheel. Neat! I'm gonna check this out when I get home but would love to revisit older games in the franchise with a wheel. This works great, only issue is I loose all ffb once every lap, hoping for a fix. Strange thing, I lose FFB near the center.
Step 1: Get all the tools and resources in Desktop Mode: Emudeck ( https://www.emudeck.com ): Download and install it. When setting it up you only need to select PCSX2 fot GT4. In my honest opinion though, GT4 was the last "true" Gran Turismo game before it kinda started to miss the plot from GT5 onwards of trying to take itself too seriously despite the fact that it is not a real simulator no matter how many times it throws that word around. At least GT Sport (for all its faults) did embrace the esports/serious ...
Funny enough I can emulate gran turismo 4 on a Xeon x5675 paired with evga gtx 1060 6gb sc. With the CPU overclocked to 3.60ghz and turbo to 4.20ghz I can play the game nearly flawless except one major issue the gou memory keeps filling up causing the game to freeze so bad the memory reading in task manager in committed graph nose dive it pretty repeatable in the long races.
Gran Turismo 4 is one of the games basically in a 4-way tie for my favorite game of all time. Truthfully, if someone was going to look at my gaming history from an objective, outsider's perspective, GT4 is the game they would select as my favorite without question, as I've spent more time in it than any other game, by FAR.

The reasons have been covered by others. The enormous numbers of cars, tracks and events created near infinite replay possibilities. The A Spec points system drove competition between me and my friends to see who could win any event in the game with the least car. No other game in the series since has had such a hook.
GT3 drives better, and has a far better exterior camera (which I prefer when not using a wheel). Also has a better soundtrack imo (PAL). GT4 wins when it comes to overall content though. The car list is way larger and there's many more tracks too. Personally I prefer 3 because I played it more growing up, but both are great for their own reasons.

GT4 and GT5P have "cheat codes" in the options menu that makes debug options appear. For GT5, the code was removed: the only way to access is by save editing.
