RMS Queen Mary [3] is a retired British ocean liner that operated primarily on the North Atlantic Ocean from 1936 to 1967 for the Cunard Line.Built by John Brown & Company in Clydebank, Scotland, she was subsequently joined by RMS Queen Elizabeth [4] in Cunard's two-ship weekly express service between Southampton, Cherbourg and New York.

The house itself is a Grade II* listed building. The Hall was built for Sir Richard Hutton (1560–1639) after he acquired the Goldsborough Estate in 1598, and in the 20th century it was home to Princess Mary, Countess of Harewood as her first family home. The original building still stands and is now a hotel and restaurant.
The tower was used at times between 1573 and 1584 [4] to house Mary, Queen of Scots, whilst she was in the custody of the Earl on the orders of Queen Elizabeth I. The Queen Mary has a long history of ghost stories and supposed hauntings, which inspired Dark Harbor. For example, room B340, claimed to be haunted, inspired a Dark Harbor maze.
