For more than forty years, Dr George Washington Carver labored at Tuskegee Institute. He was the son of a slave woman, whose owner was named Moses Carver. [2] Carver remained on Moses' estate until he was 12 years of age. He would paint pictures of flowers, plants, and landscapes. [3]
