Lacy was born in Sioux City, Iowa. He played Humphrey Bogart in both the Broadway show and film version of Woody Allen's Play It Again, Sam. In 1967, Lacy met future co-stars Nancy Barrett and David Ford while working at the Wayside Theatre.
