Despert's San Francisco exhibition was observed by a prominent businessman from Dallas, Texas. In 2000, Despert was commissioned to paint a large 3,000 square foot outdoor mural downtown Dallas in the arts district adjacent to the Dallas Museum of Art. He was offered a large studio and gallery in the district to work and exhibit his paintings.
The exhibition "Slim Aarons: Gold Coast" opens Nov. 15 and is in partnership with Getty Images and presented by Lilly Pulitzer.

George Aarons (born Gregory Podubisky; 1896 in St. Petersburg, Russia – 1980 in Gloucester, Massachusetts) was a sculptor who lived and taught in Gloucester, Massachusetts, for many years until his death in 1980. He designed Gloucester's 350th Anniversary Commemorative Medal. Aarons moved from Russia to the United States when he was ten.
