The history of Sri Lanka Transport Board goes back to 1 January 1958; at the time known as the Ceylon Transport Board (CTB). The inaugural trip of the CTB took the Prime Minister and the Transport and Works Minister Maithripala Senanayake on a maroon luxury Mercedes-Benz bus imported from Germany. The bus is still owned by the Nittambuwa Bus Depot.
Biyagama (Sinhala: බියගම, Tamil: பியகம) is a suburb in Gampaha District, situated in the Western Province of Sri Lanka. It is 12 miles from Colombo. [1] A Free Trade Zone was established in Biyagama in 1985. [1] "Kaduwela" interchange of expressway is located on Biyagama to Peliyagoda road.
The expressway reduces the time taken to travel from Colombo to Galle (116 km (72 mi)) to one hour from three hours, and Colombo to Matara (29.3 km (18.2 mi)) to one and a half hours from four hours taken by the regular A2 highway.
Kadawatha (or Kadawata) (Sinhala: කඩවත Tamil: கடவத) is a large suburb of Gampaha, in the Western Province, Sri Lanka.It is situated on the A1 highway, approximately 16 km (9.9 mi) away from the centre of Colombo.
The 25.8-kilometre-long (16.0 mi) highway links the Sri Lankan capital Colombo with Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake [2] and Negombo. Construction on the highway began in October 2009, and it was opened on 27 October 2013, by former president Mahinda Rajapaksa . [ 3 ]
To Colombo=The main Interprovincial bus route 5-Kurunegala-Colombo passes through this town. For short distances, the 265-Minuwangoda-Colombo or 187-1 or 187-2 Ekala/Nivasiepura-Fort buses are present.
