Sentani is an administrative district (distrik) and also a town (kelurahan) which serves as the capital of Jayapura Regency, in Papua (province), Indonesia.Sentani District has an area of around 79.80 km 2 with a total population in mid 2023 of around 84,648 people, and a population density of around 1,061/km 2.
It lies some 40 kms west of the city of Jayapura, and contains Sentani International Airport, the main port of entry for the province. The conflicts between Aceh and Portugal started in 1519, when a Portuguese ship under Gaspar de Costa was lost near Aceh and attacked by the Acehnese, killing its crew.
