Anaphase (from Ancient Greek ἀνα-() ' back, backward ' and φάσις (phásis) ' appearance ') is the stage of mitosis after the process of metaphase, when replicated chromosomes are split and the newly-copied chromosomes (daughter chromatids) are moved to opposite poles of the cell.
