To reduce weight, without taking out interior parts is a chore. Easiest, and most effective way to reduce weight is with lighter wheels. Expensive, but perhaps the easiest. Big problem is that if you are loosing weight to increase performance, light weight wheels that are also stronger than stock are an expensive solution.
The other day I wanted to compare the weight of the 2021 M3P 20" Uberturbine wheel & tire to the summer wheels that I use on my 2018 LR RWD. Uberturbines: - Stock wheel w/ 2021 M3P, 20x9, +35mm ET - Stock 235/35-20 Pirelli P-Zero - 690 miles - Condition: New - No wheel lug cap - Weight: 54.5...
Further, the Model 3 OEM roof rack is rated for a dynamic weight of 145lbs and a static weight of 495lbs which also matches the other Yakima racks that are rated for the same dynamic weight. I am comfortable with the kayak going up there as it should have a good 45+lbs of dynamic weight available once everything is up there. 165lbs - (51.4lbs ...
Official Model 3 Performance wheel weights! Pulled the tires off and got the wheels weighed! Kudos to Tesla for making a lightweight forged wheel! We weighed the aero covers separately at 1.58 lbs Front without covers: 22.70 lbs Rear without covers: 23.36 lbs Front with covers: 24.28...
That's super impressive. While everyone else just keeps getting heavier, Tesla is getting lighter. I still can't believe how light everything from the interior of the Model 3 is, it's really impressive. Once they start mega-casting the frame and switch to the 4680 cells I would expect the weight of the Model 3 to drop several hundred pounds.

I decided to go with Signature SV902 in matte black in 18x8.5 so I can reuse stock Michelin Primacy MXM4 235/45/18. This way I can keep Model 3 design intact with same wheel diameter and width. Also I can do a apple to apple compairson. OEM Aero vs Signature Forged 18inch SV902 Wheels Weight (Wheel Only) Aero: 23lb Signature SV902: 17.5lb
The tongue weight is 350lbs and this is the tongue weight as applied by a trailer, the problem with a suspended bike hitch is that it applies a toque. Really from an engineering perspective Tesla should identify the torque rating of the hitch, but they try to simplify it with a 160lb hanging hitch weight limit.
Anyone have any draggy testing for light weight wheels with the M3P? If so, would you mind posting the weight of the wheels and the draggy results? Trying to see if it is worth it to spend $2k on wheels.
Don't want to increase un-sprung weight (in addition to ride harshness), but only a scale could reveal the difference. I'm also interested in the ride difference. My wife doesn't want it any harsher than the LR Model 3 we rode, which had the aero 18s.
