Tradewinds Hotel is a luxury hotel in Ottoville, American Samoa. [1] The hotel has 104 guest rooms, [2] 43 suites and 8 large suites. [3] is served by the Equator restaurant which uses inspiration from local Samoan cooking the cook American, European, Pacific and Asian cuisine. The hotel hosted the Miss Island Queen Pageant in 2009.
Reopening was planned for 2008 and delayed until 2009. It was planned to halve the number of hotel rooms to 220 and convert the other rooms to residential villas. Later this plan was also abandoned. In 2015 Tradewinds group managing director Datuk Wira Azhar Abdul Hamid stated that reopening the hotel would cost the same as building a new one. [8]
It was considered to be a luxury hotel for its time. During the 1930s, 40s, and 50s, gambling was an accepted form of tourism at hotels along the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and slot machines were available to guests in the Tivoli Hotel lobby. [3] In the 1950s, the structure was renovated and became the Trade Winds Hotel. [4]
