According to the lyricist Paul Williams, the line "when there's no getting over that rainbow" in the chorus is a reference to the song "Over the Rainbow" from The Wizard of Oz. [1] Williams said that the song was originally written with just two verses and a chorus, and a demo was submitted to The Carpenters in 1971.

Over the Rainbow is singer-songwriter Livingston Taylor's third album, released in 1973. Its eleven tracks include nine of his own compositions, as well as two cover versions: " Over the Rainbow ", from The Wizard of Oz , and George Harrison 's " If I Needed Someone ".
The cut version — Over the Rainbow — was released in 2001 on the posthumous album Alone In Iz World. The cut version became a sleeper hit, after charting across Europe in 2010 and 2011 and in the meanwhile being featured in numerous film and TV soundtracks throughout the 2000s and 2010s.
On Stage is a double live album originally released by the British hard rock band Rainbow in 1977. It was recorded live over several German and Japanese dates in late 1976 during the Rising world tour. The album was released first in the US on 7 July 1977, before being released a week later on 15 July in the UK. [2]
