In 1831, Jacob Stem, the founder of Green Springs, bought the land from the government. He purchased about 1,200 acres (4.9 km 2) within Sandusky and Seneca counties, including the sulfur spring. The village was originally called Stemtown, named after the founder. It was later called Green Springs, named from the color of the water from the spring.
On February 28, 1870, Cincinnati annexed Lick Run and Camp Washington. [5] By 1881, Cincinnati had annexed the village of Cumminsville (now Northside) within the township limits. [3] By 1904, Cincinnati had also annexed the villages of Winton Place (now Spring Grove Village) and Bond Hill.
Green Creek is a 21.6-mile-long (34.8 km) [1] tributary to the Sandusky River in the northern part of the U.S. state of Ohio. It connects Mineral Springs at the village of Green Springs to the Sandusky River. [2] Green Creek was so named on account of the mineral-stained rocks along its course. [3]
