On his return to Philadelphia, the archdiocese placed him on the faculty of St. Charles Borromeo Seminary. During this time, he performed weekend pastoral service first at Saint Joseph Parish in Downingtown, Pennsylvania, then at Saint Alphonsus Parish in Maple Glen, Pennsylvania.
