The county is part of the Southwest Pennsylvania region of the state. Unity Township is a township in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 21,724 at the 2020 census, [2] a decline of approximately 4% compared to the 2010 census. Note that both Westmoreland County, Connecticut, and the proposed State of Westmoreland are unrelated to the current Westmoreland County (located in southwestern Pennsylvania). It was created by an Act of the Assembly and approved on February 26, 1773 by Governor of Pennsylvania Richard Penn.
