tail has two special command line option -f and -F (follow) that allows a file to be monitored. Instead of just displaying the last few lines and exiting, tail displays the lines and then monitors the file. As new lines are added to the file by another process, tail updates the display. This is particularly useful for monitoring log files.
The output of dmesg can amount to many complete screens. For this reason, this output is normally reviewed using standard text-manipulation tools such as more, tail, less or grep. [6] Size of the dmesg buffer is limited and the output is often captured in a permanent system logfile via a logging daemon, such as syslog.
One can also obtain lower bounds on the tail F(k; n, p) ... Then log(T) is approximately normally distributed with mean log(p 1 /p 2) and variance ...

The log-normal distribution has also been associated with other names, such as McAlister, Gibrat and Cobb–Douglas. [4] A log-normal process is the statistical realization of the multiplicative product of many independent random variables, each of which is positive.
The distribution of a random variable X with distribution function F is said to have a long right tail [1] if for all t > 0, [> + >] =,or equivalently ¯ (+) ¯ (). This has the intuitive interpretation for a right-tailed long-tailed distributed quantity that if the long-tailed quantity exceeds some high level, the probability approaches 1 that it will exceed any other higher level.
