[1] [2] The first season premiered from November 5 to November 8, 2018 on the "Russia-1" national TV channel. The second season premiered from March 25 to March 29, 2019.

Ekaterina is a 2014 Russia-1 historical television series starring Marina Aleksandrova as the eventual Russian empress Catherine the Great.The first season tells the story of princess Sophie Friederike Auguste, and her rise to power to become Empress of Russia, following a coup d'état and the assassination of her husband, Peter III.
Both the Second and Third seasons have been released. Season 2 involves Ekaterina, her sons, her relationship with the eldest Orlov brother, and Count Panin. Season 3 expands on some of second seasons’s storylines, while focusing on two of history’s better-known Pretenders who claimed the Russian throne rightfully belonged to them.
