I've searched for my issue but cannot find an answer to what exactly is happening. I have a png image in Illustrator, and when in Image Trace, I click "Trace". What it does is check mark "Preview" and then grays "Trace" out so that I can't click it to trace the image. I'm stuck in preview mode and cannot follow through with the image trace.

I tried copying a raster image from Powerpoint and pasting it into Illustrator. All Object > Image trace options were greyed out. If you have a raster image for which you don't have the original source, try pasting it into Photoshop and exporting it. Then placing the exported image into Illustrator.

Before the introduction of the Properties panel, if I wanted to expand an image trace, there was an easy to find button in the Control panel. Now the only place I've been able to find the Expand command is under the Object menu -- no where to be found in Properties panel where one would expect to find it, nor in the Image Trace panel.

Image Disappears During Image Trace. I was given a full color png logo. I changed the color in Photoshop Elements to all white, saved as both a png and psd file. I then went to Illustrator and did a File - Place with the white logo to add the image to my project. I then went to Window - Image Trace and selected Ignore White.
