My redesign of the German Democratic Republic (East Germany) flag. I always found it interesting that, despite them being administered and controlled by the Soviet Union, Russian was never implemented as an official language. They weren't administered or controlled by the USSR, they were just allied with it.

The “Confederate flag” used in the US in the 20th and 21st centuries is a very different symbol. First of all, it isn’t even the flag of the CSA, it’s a flag based on a Confederate war flag that strongly conveys modern political positions like the Lost Cause. Second, the CSA only existed for five years, and no person alive today ever ...

A subreddit for those who enjoy learning about flags, their place in society past and present, and their design characteristics. I’ve always admired the flag of East Germany, rather aesthetically pleasing. In 1949 both West Germany and East Germany readopted the black, red and gold flag of the Weimar Republic. On 1 October 1959 East Germany modified its flag by adding its national emblem, a hammer and compass within a wreath of wheat. This change was seen in West Germany as a breach of the constitution and a deliberate attempt to divide the two ...

I think it's supposed to reference that the government is a authoritarian socialist state, and since they seem to primarily speak German (since all the propaganda posters are in German) they would use the historical socialist German flag, also if you read the documents in the ship they make ...

Flags of every nation in HOI4, Day 60: East Germany, tag: DDR. What is that democratic flag? That's typically paradox. It isn't a democratic flag. Its the Wirmer Flag, which was designed by Josef Wirmers and shoul be the german flag after the Staufenberg attack on Hitler would have been successful.

Live in Germany. I've never heard of that. Maybe it is illegal, just never really enforced. No, it is not. The only ban I'm aware of was the FDJ, the GDR's youth organization, because at the time they had a West-German branch.
