Deeping St James lies 1 mile (1.6 km) east from Market Deeping, to which it is conjoined, and on the River Welland, at the centre of rich sedimentary agricultural land on the B1166 and B1162 roads. With a population of 6,923 in 2,837 households, it is the largest of The Deepings parishes. [ 11 ]
