Zilwaukee was founded in 1848 when Daniel and Solomon Johnson, two brothers from New York City, built a saw mill there. [citation needed]Zilwaukee Bridge at sunset. The provenance of the town's name is unknown, but local legends hold that it was a deliberate attempt to attract immigrants who thought they were heading for the larger Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Baird was justice of the peace of Zilwaukee Township for several years. [4] He was elected supervisor of Zilwaukee Township about 1890. [citation needed] He was a Republican. In 1895, he was elected to the Michigan House of Representatives, representing Saginaw County's second district; serving one term in 1895. [4]

[1] [4] The county was created by September 10, 1822, and was fully organized on February 9, 1835. [1] The etymology of the county's name is uncertain.
Bruske was born in Charlotte, Michigan, and raised in Saginaw, Michigan. [1] He was the son of Rev. August F. Bruske, who served as president of Alma College. [2] Bruske attended Alma College where he was a champion tennis player and an infielder and captain of the baseball team. [1]

After the 2020 U.S. census , the District lines were redrawn from Saginaw to Midland, Michigan by the Citizens’ Nonpartisan Redistricting commission to cover Midland County and a small part of Gladwin county.
