With the death of H. P. Wasson in 1910, and his son Kenard Wasson in 1912, the store was sold to Gustave A. Efroymson and his brother-in-law Louis P. Wolf. The chain would eventually consist of seven stores with the flagship store located at 2 West Washington Street in downtown Indianapolis. Efroymson was president of the company from 1912 to 1930.
Wasson's was the first store to be confirmed as a tenant, having announced plans to build the store in 1954. [3] The mall's developers were collectively known as Eastgate Corporation, a group of Indianapolis-based businessmen of which real estate developer Albert L. Frankel was president.
Ira A. Watson Co., more commonly known as Watson's was a department store chain based in Knoxville, Tennessee, United States. It was founded in 1907 and grew to many locations throughout the Southeastern United States. The company was purchased for $4.45 million (~$7.76 million in 2023) by Peebles with the transaction closing June 29, 1998. [1]
