The British Rowing Championships usually take place every year and are normally held at the National Water Sports Centre, Holme Pierrepont (Nottingham), with occasional championships held at the Strathclyde Country Park. The championships originally incorporated Senior and Junior crews but since 2013 have been held separately.

The event was cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, Eton College won the 1st, 2nd & 3rd eight events [5] and in 2024 St Paul's School repeated the success; it was the fourth and fifth times respectively that this has been achieved in the regatta's history. The 2024 British Rowing Championships were the 2024 edition of the National Senior and Junior Championships, held from 19 to 22 July 2024 at the National Water Sports Centre in Holme Pierrepont, Nottingham. [1] [2] [3] They were organised and sanctioned by British Rowing, and were open to British rowers.

The club began to record success perfoming well at the 2015 British Rowing Junior Championships [5] the 2015 Junior Inter-Regional Championships [6] and the Henley Sculls in 2017. [7] They also won the Victor ludorum at the 2015 Worcester Regatta.
The race was initially a smaller event for Championship men's crews, with only 14 competing in its first year. [12] However, numbers have grown significantly over time and additional categories of boats have been added. For example, in 2012, the J4- and WJ4- events were introduced [n 1] and in 2013 the Mix 4x [n 2] event was introduced to the race.
