Huntington Drive is a major thoroughfare that begins in the Rose Hills community in Los Angeles, California and heads east/northeast to Irwindale, California. The street was named after railroad magnate Henry E. Huntington. It also served as one of the only thoroughfares between Los Angeles and Pasadena in the early 1900s.
The site was originally occupied by a shopping mall called Plaza Pasadena, which opened in 1980 and featured three anchor stores: J.C. Penney, The Broadway, and May Company California. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] It was built by The Hahn Company at a cost of $115 million on an 11-acre site and had featured over 120 stores. [ 3 ]
The courthouse is the largest of several buildings adjacent to a residential district at the western edge of Pasadena. The old hotel was constructed primarily in two sections: a two-story steel and wood frame section built in 1920–21, and a six-story reinforced concrete portion built in 1930–1931.
Northeast Pasadena is the area north of the 210 freeway, between Hill Avenue and the Eaton Wash. Residents of Northeast Pasadena attend Pasadena High or Marshall Fundamental Secondary School. This neighborhood is served by Metro Local line 267, Foothill Transit Route 187 and Pasadena Transit lines 10, 31, 32, 33, 40 and 60.
The rail line ran from Lamanda Park to downtown Los Angeles, with a stop at downtown Pasadena and later South Pasadena, California. By January 1887 the rail line continued on to Azusa, California and later that year to Monrovia, California. At its peak Lamanda Park had its own paper, Herald Lamanda Park, post office, movie house, bank and school.
Old Pasadena is connected to Downtown Los Angeles via the Metro A Line light rail. Del Mar station is two blocks south of Colorado Boulevard, while Memorial Park station enters from Holly Street and Arroyo Parkway. The Norton Simon Museum is located at Orange Grove Boulevard and Colorado Boulevard.
