The Manila–Cavite Expressway (more popularly known as CAVITEX), [a] [b] signed as E3 of the Philippine expressway network and R-1 of Metro Manila's arterial road network, is a 14-kilometer-long (8.7 mi) controlled-access highway linking Manila to the southern province of Cavite in the Philippines.
The expressway combines open-road, closed-road, and barrier toll systems. Toll collection is divided between the South Metro Manila Skyway Project and Skyway Stage 3 but are altogether part of the Seamless Southern Tollways program of San Miguel Corporation .
Notable landmarks along this route include the Petron Rosario Depot, SM City Rosario, Gate 1 of the Cavite Export Processing Zone, and the Tejeros Convention Site. The present road originated from an old road that enters Cavite from Las Piñas. The old roads that predated the Aguinaldo Highway used a different alignment on Bacoor and Imus, that exist until today as a mixture of city-maintained roads and national roads. Portions of the road have been sites of battles of the Philippine Revolution.
The route alignment starts from Lower Bicutan, Taguig, connecting to the proposed C-6 Expressway Road Project.It traverses southwards, passing the city boundaries of Taguig and Muntinlupa in the southern part of Metro Manila, and continues further south, passing the cities of San Pedro, Biñan, Santa Rosa, Cabuyao, Calamba and ends up at Los Baños in Laguna, near its boundary with Bay.
