Due to its location near the town square of Belton, South Carolina, it was an important focal point of the area. After the loss of passenger service in the 1960s and a slowdown in freight shipping, the depot was abandoned by the rail company and acquired by the city.
Belton is located in eastern Anderson County at (34.525630, -82.496129 It is 11 miles (18 km) east of Anderson, the county seat, by U.S. Routes 76 and 178. Honea Path is 8 miles (13 km) to the southeast by the same highway, and South Carolina Highway 20 leads 26 miles (42 km) north to Greenville.

As of December 31, 2022, there are 759 Econo Lodge hotels open with 44,697 rooms. [2] [3] There are Econo Lodge motels in every US state and Canadian province.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,133.28 square miles (2,935.2 km 2), of which 1,056.50 square miles (2,736.3 km 2) is land and 76.78 square miles (198.9 km 2) (6.78%) is water. [5] It is the fifth-largest county in South Carolina by land area and fourth-largest by total area.
Hotel Keturah is a historic hotel building located at McCormick in McCormick County, South Carolina. It was built about 1910, and is a 2 1/2-story, brick building with a hipped roof in the Colonial Revival style. The front façade features a one-story frame porch with Doric order Tuscan columns. The hotel was meticulously restored in 1996 with a $12 million National Trust for Historic Preservation award winning restoration. It reopened as The Francis Marion Hotel - A Clarion Hotel. The hotel went through a second round of renovations in 1997, costing $2 million, and it was renamed The Westin Francis Marion on June 18, 1998. [15]
