Initially the Wongs are very impressed with Kif, but another mini-dust storm brings a ransom note. The Wongs, more unhappy with Kif than ever, call in Zapp Brannigan to resolve the situation. "Brannigan, Begin Again" is the second episode in the second season of the American animated television series Futurama, and the 15th episode of the series overall. It originally aired on the Fox network in the United States on November 28, 1999.
Zapp Brannigan (voiced by Billy West) is a 25-Star general in the military of the Democratic Order Of Planets (D.O.O.P.), although his title varies. Brannigan was first seen in the episode "Love's Labours Lost in Space" as Captain of the starship Nimbus, where he imprisons Fry, Leela and Bender for violating "Brannigan's Law".
Before the fake relationships are exposed, Kif calls Brannigan to the bridge; a new course Brannigan chose has endangered the ship. Brannigan pilots the ship too close to a black hole. Realizing the danger, Brannigan promotes Kif to Captain before fleeing the ship. Fry and Leela nearly kiss before they are interrupted by the ship breaking in half.
As the crew arrives in the Vergon system, they find a security cordon put in place around the planet by the starship Nimbus, which Leela recognizes as the flagship of famed space captain Zapp Brannigan. Upon docking with the ship and coming aboard, the Planet Express crew meet Zapp and his long-suffering executive officer, Lieutenant Kif Kroker.
Unable to ask Amy out himself, Kif allows Zapp to take him, Amy, and a begrudging Leela on a double date to a restaurant spaceship. After a series of disastrous hijinks, Zapp takes command of the restaurant and crashes it into the planet Amazonia, where the Amazonians, a tribe of giant, muscular women, capture them.
