The 3rd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment (3–69 AR) is a United States Army combined arms battalion and part of the 3rd Infantry Division based at Fort Stewart, Georgia. 3–69 AR was the first conventional US unit to enter Iraq in 2003, and among the first units to serve four tours in Iraq.
On 1 November 1940 the 123rd Cavalry Regiment was reorganized as the 103rd and 106th Separate Battalions of Coast Artillery. The 106th mustered into Federal Service in 1941 and was redesignated as the 106th Antiaircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Battalion on 14 July 1944. It was inactivated on 3 December 1945. [1]
