The 2024 King's Birthday Honours for Australia were announced on 10 June 2024 by the Governor-General, David Hurley. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] The Birthday Honours are appointments by some of the 15 Commonwealth realms of King Charles III to various orders and honours to reward and highlight good works by citizens of those countries.
Prior to this, Melbourne and Collingwood had faced each other on the King's/Queen's Birthday public holiday on ten occasions: 1898, 1950, 1958, 1961, 1964, 1977, 1983, 1993, 1996 and 1999; among those, the 1996 match was the only time it was the sole match scheduled for the day.

Senior barristers are Queen's/King's Counsel; an important court in the UK is Queen's/King's Bench; the government is Her/His Majesty's Government; and of course the anthem is "God Save the Queen/King". There's no reason why a similar change shouldn't occur with the Queen's/King's Official Birthday. SchnitteUK 13:38, 15 June 2013 (UTC)
In Arkansas: it was known as "Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Birthday and Robert E. Lee's Birthday" from 1985 to 2017. Legislation in March 2017 changed the name of the state holiday to "Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Birthday" and moved the commemoration of Lee to October. In Idaho: "Martin Luther King Jr.–Idaho Human Rights Day". [28]
The date has also changed from 30 to 27 April, which is the actual birthday of Willem-Alexander. [1] On the first King's Day – held on 26 April 2014 because 27 April 2014 was a Sunday – the king visited De Rijp and Amstelveen (originally planned to be visited by Queen Beatrix in 2013, but postponed due to her abdication).
