The answer is simple: AT&T. AT&T has the most coverage in Alaska. Its 4G LTE and 5G networks cover 7.9% of the state. You can further break AT&T's coverage down into areas with good, great, or poor reception.

If you have AT&T, you will remain on AT&T’s network for the most part in Alaska. You will also need to turn on roaming data if you want to use your phone for anything other than texting and making calls (unless you have AT&T). Alaska’s major cell networks statewide are GCI and AT&T.
I would check the AT&T, Verizon, and GCI coverage maps for the areas you plan on visiting you..they’ll give you a decent idea of what to expect. Verizon will roam on GCI LTE in areas outside of Anchorage, such as in the Kenai. They will also LTE roam on Copper Valley Telecom up by Glennallen.
Small carrier GCI provides the best coverage to Alaska, while AT&T and Verizon are relative newcomers to the state. Sprint and T-Mobile's don't operate their own networks in Alaska, but have roaming agreements with GCI. That means you'll still get a signal where GCI's network is present.
Verizon, AT&T or Tmobile. If you are going to be in Western Alaska then you want GCI. They are the only coverage in the villages. T-Mobile does not have their own presence in Alaska and you'll be roaming. For the road system, AT&T or Verzion both have coverage. AT&T probably has the better coverage.
