Purple is the first album from Baroness following their 2012 bus accident and the first to feature members Sebastian Thomson and Nick Jost. [2] It is the last album to feature Pete Adams, who left the band in 2017.
At Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album received an average score of 91, based on 14 reviews, which indicates "universal acclaim".
